If you didn't catch a previous article, I'll say it again.....Hyperborean Wanderer will very shortly (at an unspecified date) be wandering a lot less. He is in fact, coming home for R&R. His son is understandably excited. He keeps telling me how that "when I see my dad at the airport, I'm going to run up and hug him so fast that he falls down!" Today, I suggested that the kids play with chalk on the back porch and that developed into the idea that they write "Welcome Home Dad" on the...

Let's be clear here. I'm such a dork. I KNEW this would make me cry. But I couldn't stop. Link Link Link Link Link you get the idea... But I might as well face it...I'll cry when I pick him up at the airport....very very soon!
All the discussion about medical rights had me thinking.... Should terminally ill cancer victims who have failed to respond to all standard treatments for their condition have the right to be prescribed and administered drugs which are still undergoing pharmaceutical investigation and are not approved by the FDA for use? (Reference: New England Journal of Medicine, July 26, 2007, p. 408.) As a note: From the Associated Press August 7, 2007: WASHINGTON - Terminally ill patients do ...
I pulled this out of one of my scrapbooks....Happy B-Day Angela! Have a wonderful day!
So, HW called me today. He spent $175 on a pair of boots. Knowing the rigures of Army life, I understand the need for good footwear. A little pricey but we can deal with it.... But OHhhhhh no. We were not charged once for the boots. We were charged 3 freaking times! I am so sick of calling the bank. First my purse was stolen. Then our banking account was comprimised. Now, HW's card is comprimised as well. The bank insists that because the card was swiped three times, that they...
This morning, my darling daughter asked for pancakes. My son (strangely enough) prefers bran flakes, so as she was waiting for the pancakes to cook, he was already pouring a bowl of cereal. She decided (after I started cooking) that she wanted bran flakes and instant gratification. I informed her that she asked for pancakes and so she was getting pancakes....not bran flakes. My son explained it to her. "Maddy, you wanted that but now you wanted this but you don't get what you want, y...
My MIL, henseforth known as "momma charlie" is one of the most talented women I know. I could heap praise on her for many things, but I want to point out how freaking awesome she is in regards to quilting and sewing. She taught me the basics, but wholey wow, she is good. I'm so impressed with her ability to pull out seemingly mismatched fabrics and create works of art. For the birth of both my kids, she (and Mamie) graced me with enough quilts, blankets and throws to use a different one...
So less than a month after my purse was swiped....a charge appeared on my bank account for almost $300. The bank assured me that it was not related to the recent theft of my purse. I had changed all my cards and put a fraud alert on my credit cards. I shred all my bank information as well. According to them, I did everything that I needed to to protect myself. Knowing that this was a completely unrelated incident, did not make me feel any better about a second, possibly random, cas...
Dang it. I'm done. I TRIED to read slow. I read it. Mostly Twice. Damn it. Now I have nobody to talk to about it!
Hyperborean Wanderer, while willing to eat chicken head soup, will not touch a bean or legume of any kind. He loves mexican food, but refuses to eat refried beans, chili is just a bowl of tomatoes, meat and seasoning, and stir fry is lacking in snap peas. Until now. Since he is gone, I have been exposing our kids to peas and beans of every kind, in the hopes of killing this trend. Today, Connor decided that he liked snap pea (pods) after I turned dinner into a science class. I showe...
WOOO HOOOO! I am finally done with this semester! Finally, the nightmare is over. Actually, it wasn't that bad, but my fluff class was hard and the other was a lot of essay work and HORRIBLE exams. I can't express the level of irritation I felt with my Philosophy instructor. I think he made his exams impossible just to see if anyone would quit. You were timed and had one question pop up on a screen. Once you answered, you could not go back. Oh, and he never posted how many questio...
