This morning, my darling daughter asked for pancakes. My son (strangely enough) prefers bran flakes, so as she was waiting for the pancakes to cook, he was already pouring a bowl of cereal. She decided (after I started cooking) that she wanted bran flakes and instant gratification. I informed her that she asked for pancakes and so she was getting pancakes....not bran flakes.
My son explained it to her.
"Maddy, you wanted that but now you wanted this but you don't get what you want, you only get what you are supposed to have. You don't get what you want but you just only get what you really need.
I stood there listening to my son spout wisdom straight from the soul of Mick Jagger.....and realized that he really is a Stone at heart.
His dad would be so proud."
