So I have danced can can for several years. Sometimes we get good costumes....and sometimes not. They have been black and purple, Hot pink and neon yellow, too-revealing in pink and black, and most recently peacock blue. We have bought cheap costumes and expensive costumes, but as in most things...you get what you pay for. The "Big Bird" Feathered-$79 The $120 Costumes This year, we were told they are *gasp* $22! I think they expected us to jump up and down, cheering that we save...
Boy just said his bedtime prayer. "Blah blah blah....And please keep my Daddy safe and strong...And please keep the soldiers in Iraq safe so when they come home to thier families for not just vacation but for good, they aren't dead." Dang. Why did he catch on to that now? I've tried to shelter him and when we pray as a family, I emphasise the "Please bless Dad, keep him safe and healthy and strong ...etc etc. I've tried to avoid mentioning deaths in other units so that he doesn't ...
Forward: I tried to post this at about 5 am but Joeueser was not cooperating, so imagine yourself with your morning coffee or whatever, bleary-eyed and just starting your day.... Sometime before 4:30 this morning, (I don't know when because I refused to open my eyes), I was awakened by the sounds of my daughter Maddy and her friend Sophia laughing. I pretended I couldn't hear the 2 year olds and tried to sleep for a few more minutes. But eventually, the laughter turned to tears and I ha...
So I woke up and realized that with HWs recent departure that I forgot that payday was on Friday...I was supposed to pay bills! EEEKKK! I logged on, hoping that I could get everything paid before there was a late charge. Sometimes my bank can take a buisness day or two to get an online payment completed...or maybe it's the creditors? Anyway, I logged on to my bank account and ..... Panicked! There was nowhere near enough money in the account to cover our bills. What happened? How co...
Larger Pic so you can see detail Link HyperboreanWanderer and Boy were playing with The Car. The Car (yes, it needs capital letters) just got new "shoes" and they were putting on the finishing touches (center caps). And here is HW himself, to tell you the fancy car numbers and stuff.... American Racing Wheels Torqthrust II mags, 15x8 in front, 15x10 deep-dish inset in back, with BF Goodrich 235/60s up front and 275/60s in back. They're the same size as I had before, but ...
Maddy is learning about the joys of dress up and pretend. I'm really grooving on how her imagination works. And anyone who tells you that there is no difference between a boy and a girl is crazy. She plays superheros and cars with her brothers but by herself, she would much rather play house or pretend to be a pink princess.
This morning my daughter announced that her dolls had names. This is a fairly new trend since her idea of naming something usually consists of naming a stuffed dog, "puppy" and a doll, "baby". I think she has picked the 2 coolest names in the world. She has 2 dolls from the Dollar Tree that she is allowed to take anywhere (even on a Walmart trip) and she decided to name them "One" and "No-one"! Fantastic. And as a special bonus...here is a clip of my son singing just for you...Can you ...
So yeah, I'm barely halfway through the day and this is my life. I'm queen of short term memory, Princess of forgetfulness and mother of all that is insanity. I'm already frustrated this morning. I had a dr. apt and he completely ignored what I had to say, prescribing me sleeping pills even though I TOLD him that I didn't want them. He said, "You are just overly concerned about your husband's deployment and that can effect your health..." GRRRR. I left the exam room and immediately sp...
Link So I'm working on more test shots with my new backdrop...I'm still frustrated with the lighting (au natural) but I'm making progress....I thought I'd throw some test shots up here for you to see.....you can follow the link to see the whole series, but I'll stick a few here.
I was looking at some pictures on Flickr and I found a group....365days. The idea is that you take a self portrait everyday for a year. There were a few other groups with similar themes but this one caught my attention. I don't knwo if I have the determination to continue this project for a year, but I think I could learn some healthy self acceptance by the end of the experiment. So here is my first picture... Anyone want to join me?
According to AP: TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - With large swaths of the Gulf Coast still in ruins from Hurricane Katrina, rich federal tax breaks designed to spur rebuilding are flowing hundreds of miles inland to investors who are buying up luxury condos near the University of Alabama's football stadium. About 10 condominium projects are going up in and around Tuscaloosa, and builders are asking up to $1 million for units with granite countertops, king-size bathtubs and 'Bama decor, including crim...
You may remember the fact that I decided to start doing photography as a "well paying hobby" instead of just a hobby. I figure that I'll only get better with practice, so I built a backdrop out of pvc pipe and $1 fabric from walmart. Here is a test shot of boy in said backdrop. I can't wait to do some more work with this. Unfortunately, he was tucking his toes under the fabric so this will have to stay in the "test shot" category unless I crop it. 1/100s@f/3.5
