I saw this and thought that, dispite having very generalized statements, it brings up a few thought provinking issues.....see what you think. Clinton awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Yugoslavia - good... Bush awards Halliburton no-bid contract in Iraq - bad... Clinton spends 77 billion on war in Serbia - good... Bush spends 87 billion in Iraq - bad... Clinton imposes regime change in Serbia - good... Bush imposes regime change in Iraq - bad... Clinton bombs Christia...
Mud-Covered Presidents During his first presidential campaign, he was vilified and ridiculed, not for his ideas, but for his unpolished appearance and his folksy accent and his lack of education. They called him stupid, an ape, a country bumpkin, and made fun of the way he pronounced his words. His enemies declared that his election would be the end of everything good in the world. They threatened to leave the United States if he won -- this despite the fact that he was certainly the ...
Every member of my family for the last 3 generations has served in the military. Why? Not because of the great pay, but because we havepatriotism and a longstanding belief that you get what you pay for.... See the article on Free Ice Cream by Draginol -it has NOTHING to do with my post except for the following quote that mademe think.... He made a really great point...." I've learned something interesting: if you give away ice cream, eventually a lot of people will complain abou...
For those who have not been following the recent events in Russia, there is a very good article written here, by a fellow blogger. Link Read it. Be upset. Think of YOUR children or nieces and nephews on their first day of school. Think of how YOU would feel and the anger you would have over this if it was the school down the street. When I first heard about this, I was in shock. As a mother, I was horrified to think of what these children suffered. What kind of person could be so...
This afternoon while my darling son was supposed to be sleeping, I heard him crying. So naturally, I ignored it, thinking that he would stop in a few moments. However, it didn't. I went in his room to give him a hug and tell him to go to sleep. To my not-so-surprise, I found him perched on top of his bookshelf, unable to move up or down, clinging for dear life. He had been hanging there for over 5 minutes while I waited for him to "calm down". I wonder if this is what causes ...
How NOT to get a two year old ready for bed. 1. Give said child a bath. 2. Dry him off and put a clean diaper on him. 3. Go to the bathroom to drain the tub and mop the newly formed lake off the floor. 4. Don't notice two year old grabing shoes and sneaking outside. 5. Continue picking up wet towels as child wrestles the dog 6. Thnk, "Wow, he's being WAY too quiet." as he digs a big hole in the mud 7. Find dirt covered child grinning in the backyard. 8. Repeat steps 1 and 2. ...
While driving to work this morning, i happened to catch a quote by Howard Dean. He was talking about how terorist threats and terror warnings should NOT be made public, they "cause too much panic" and stress among everyday people. The only people who should be given this information are public officials and emergency response teams..... WHAT THE HELL?!?!?! Please tell me that I heard him wrong, "let's NOT tell people that they are are a higher risk...." Brilliant idea. So in the...
With all the intense feelings on both Republican and Democrat sides, I thought this could lighten the mood..... One sunny day in 2005, an old man approached the White House from across Pennsylvania Avenue, where he'd been sitting on a park bench. He spoke to the Marine standing guard and said, "I would like to go in and meet with President Kerry." The Marine replied, "Sir, Mr. Kerry is not President and doesn't reside here. "The old man said,"Okay,"and walked away. The following...
I had one of the coolest moments today.....I was watching my son play and realized that there was a method to his madness. Humor me as I attempt to share his way of speaking. He is playing with a bunch of Fisher Price Zoo animals in his room. He is narrating as he plays, directing them what to do. First he shows them the slide ...."here whee" and shows with his finger what to except.....including the requisite, "Wheeeeee" Then they start taking turns. This is the cool part. He...
So I am sitting up at 11 am feeling as though it is 6 am....no. That's not the way to put it. I'm sitting here feeeling sluggish, lazy and unable( or maybe just unwilling) to move. This is not a usual state of being for me...even at 6 months pregnant. I learned at a young age that sleep is good. Sleep is important. One of the most important things I will do all day. Why? For the simple reason that I get nothing done if I am tired. Conversely, with a decent 8 hours of sleep, I oft...
So after reading an article on hobbies by dharmagirl, I was inspired to write on why I'm inspired to write. I never thought of myself as a writer, much less one that would put her thoughts out for anyone to judge. I wonder why I am driven to write. It occured to me that it's the same reason I love to scrapbook. I've always been facinated by photos and the stories that lie behind them. More than just the who, where and when of a picture, but the memories that are invoked by seeing that ...
i just read one of cs-guy's articles on racism. Check out the link here. Link reading about the "racism" in entertainment, it made me think about other cases of "enpowerment" that boil down to racism. Humor me for a minute because this is a subject that really gets under my skin. For Example: Why is it okay to have the NAACP but "racist" to have "National White Guy Group"? Why is "Curves for Women" okay, but a "Men only Gym" not? Why do "minorities" qualify for grants etc ...
Hi there boy! Just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your phone call. You made my whole day so happy! Not a lot going on here, but I had to tell you about the hour Connor and I spent watching PBS. We sat and watched a documentary on Giant Panda Bears and Connor loved it! He pointed out the "mommy bears" and "baby bears" and made sure I knew when they were in a "tree" or drinking " milk" vrs. "water". He was so intent and interested. It was wonderful to cuddle up with my litt...
So I'm LDS. For those who don't know, and even care. This means that I am what is commonly refered to as a Mormon. No, that's not all there is to me. I'm much more than just my religion, but it does shape my beliefs and ideals. That being said, with absouluty no point whatsoever, I will move on to the actual topic of my blog. The LDS church does not have a paid clergy. Individuals are "called" to serve in various positions. The commonly held belief is that because your name is pray...
Bubble boy is proving to be more like me than I ever imagined. This afternoon, he was facinated by his alligator puppet. Specifically, he liked to get really close and have me "rawrrrr" at him and pretend to eat his toes, or tummy....you get the picture. After a few minutes, I got bored. (Who says my attention span has to be longer than my 2 year old?) So he progressed to "feeding" the alligator a cookie. He came and sat on my lap and explained this to me in great detail. "Look Mom,...
