For those who don't know, Dharma knows how to knit. Link And with her sweet thoughtfulness, she knitted by baby daughter an adorable little hat. And so Dharma, for that I wanted to tell you THANK YOU! Anyone can throw a card into the mail, (although most people don't anymore...but a handmade gift means a lot to me. It says that you took the time to think of someone other than yourself and give up your time and energy to do something to make someone else happy. It came at a real...
Link Our daughter was born at 22 November 2004. She arrived in all her glory at 4:10 am at Darnell Army Hospital, weighing in at 7 lbs 10.2 oz and measuring 19 inches long. She was known by the nursing staff as "the ER baby". Apparently ER staff on had not actually delivered a baby for 2 years. So understandably there was a lot of excitement when we arrived early Monday morning.... It all started about 1 am. I couldn't sleep because I was having some intermittent contractions. ...
What makes some people think that it is okay to start giving my husband and I unsolicited advice about sex? I don't care if I am pregnant and overdue.....You DON'T need to start turning to my husband and suggesting that he " start doing his job" . There is no need to wink and suggest a "little more time in the bedroom might help speed things along." I do know what got me into this situation and yes, I do know that that may help us get out of it. Thanks for the suggestion. Now g...
I'm up in the middle of the night because I'm at the point where I just can't get comfortable anymore. The house is quiet and my husband has been home for less than 12 hours. My son wakes up and calls from the other room, "MOMMY, DADDY, MOMMY, DADDY". I was right here on the computer, so I was able to get to him before he woke up all the way. I never did figure out what woke him up or why he was crying, but I will never forget that he is already calling for his Daddy. I can't explain...
Link In the above link, there is a an article about how the "parental rights" of rapists is being challenged. As the law stands now, many victims of rape find themselves trapped between a rock and a hard place. If they opt to not to abort the child and instead give the baby up for adoption, they must have the biological father (a rapist) give up his parental rights. Unfortunately, many women are again once being held against their will by the one who originally assaulted them. Th...
So My Husband Is Finally Home. (Yes, that was said intentionally with Caps...it just seems to call for it) Suddenly I realize how much tension I had lying under the surface. Somehow when he walks into the room, I am able to relax every muscle that I didn't even know I was tensing up. I am content and happy. *happy little sigh* Of course, the timing of this was almost messed up. The night before he flew in, I was in the hospital hoping and praying that I was not really going to be...
By ELLIOTT MINOR, Associated Press Writer SYLVESTER, Ga. - A 59-year-old great-grandmother is pregnant with twins and will deliver next month, three decades after she had her tubes tied. "They came untied," Frances Harris said Thursday. The multiple birth Dec. 21 would break the purported record set this week by a 56-year-old New York City mother of twins. Harris, of rural Sylvester, Ga., said she wasn't trying to get pregnant — and didn't realize she was — until...
In my last blog, I commented that I have been fortunate enough to deal with a lot of things while alone. I figured I would start a list....This is similar to another blog...."I can" See my favorites list. I'm not going to list the small stuff...which is sometimes harder. I'm just thinking of the seemingly HUGE disasters that happen every deployment. It never fails. I will never go through a deployment without something happening..... Buy a house. (our apt was VERY unsafe...pipe bom...
The last few weeks have been the interminable waiting stage of my pregnancy. It is almost a stereotypical response for a pregnant woman to be so eager to be desperate to "get this kid out!" I've been saying for several weeks that I didn't care if my husband was here or not, I just wanted to have this baby....NOW. Today, I found out that he is definetely on his way home from Iraq and will be here this weekend. Suddenly I was hit with an epiphany. I do want him here for the birth of h...
I was flipping through the channels and happened to catch the newest reality show on Fox.....Nanny 911. The idea sounds interesting....a nanny helps parents deal with children who are having behavior problems. Since I am currently dealing with a child in the throws of terrible twos, I thought, "What a fantastic idea! Maybe I could get some tips for dealing with MY son." I was shocked. What I didn't realize was that the adults on the show were not REAL parents. How could they be? Her...
Since I have too much respect for Greywar to hijack his thread, I figured that I would rant a bit on my own time. In a recent article about pathetic leadership in the military, there was a comment about how... [quote]i immediately wondered how much of that attitude flows outta the administration's insistence on keeping the president away from dover, the embargo on pictures of the caskets of those who died in iraq and amazingly scant coverage (including very vague stats) of injured milita...
For those who have read my articles, you may know of the one great force in my life. I'm refering of course to my two year old son. It may seem as though I am always at the end of my rope with him, but the truth is, he is a wonderful child. Disaster stories are just easier to write about....and funnnier. But part of being a mom is enjoying the quiet moments. When he woke up from his nap today, he climbed on the couch with me and I held him in my arms. That peaceful feeling of a child ...
Link This link is to skippy's list of things they can no longer do in the Army....I cracked up....especially #145 and 146 I would add the following. (note: only some are personal...) Dont' use a 10 guage needle just because someone irriated you. Don't tap the needle on the sink to dull the tip for drunk patients. Don't ever get caught with a screwdriver in your hand after the 's desk spontaniously fell apart.... Don't get caught pissing on Duty. (stairs with soldier's qu...
