This article Link brought to mind an article I wrote before about abortion. When does a baby deserve the right to live? 40 weeks gestation? What if they can be considered "viable" and have a chance for survival at say...26 weeks? I still don't think that anything could personnally make me want to get an abortion myself. I waited, miserable with fear that I couldn't have children, for nearly 3 years before I had my first child. But, I've never been pregnant after a rape.... I can...

I am a yoga instructor. I occasionally teach pilates. I have taken spinning, kickboxing and step classes in my past (before this last pregnancy). What made me think this qualified me to teach a kickboxing class? I have a friend, Amy who teaches15 classes a week. Water, kickboxing, step, pilates, spinning....you name it. She could n't find ANYONE to sub her Thursday night class. Since I have the next class (Power yoga), I offered...after all, how hard could it be? Ahem. VERY h...

Whenever your kids are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to God's kids. After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve. The first thing he said was: "Don't". "Don't what?" Adam replied. "Don't eat the forbidden fruit." God said. "Forbidden fruit? We got forbidden fruit? Hey, Eve....we got forbidden fruit!" "No way!" "Yes way!" "Don't eat that fruit!" said God. "Why?" "Because I am your Father and I said s...

When Hyperborean Wanderer and I were newlyweds, one of the things that drove him nuts, was my absentmindedness. I frequently locked myself out of the house and out of my car. I would forget what I was doing and what I was supposed to do. (Although I was plauged by the sense that I had forgotten something important) I was always running back into the house for my purse or a paper that I forgot. With time and patience, he taught me to do a pat down before I left the house....keys, check....

For those of you who watched the Fiesta Bowl on New Years Day, the girl who threw the football durring the halftime show and was then surprised by her husband from Iraq.....well, that was my best friend, Tresa McCormick. I was literally jumping up and down because I was so excited. I was probably just as happy as she was. We had been told that she would get a live video link with her husband in Iraq on the jumbotron and were completely surprized when James walked out on the field. ...

In a recent article about religious zelots who are critical and judgemental of others, I realized that there needs to be a distinction made between those of faith and those who use thier faith to persecute and those who use it for the good of others. This sparked a few thoughts on the subject matter. So hang with me as I see where this leads..... I've been practicing Yoga for several years now. i practice primarily for the physical benifits. I used to always preface my classes by tell...

One of the hardest things about being a parent is seeing your child hurting and not being able to do anything about it. Whether it is a fall that scraped their knees or a heartache that crushed their spirit, a parent can only do so much. After that, the feeling of helplessness is difficult to face. I just had a taste of what is to come as my children grow up. Every morning, my son points out his Dad's truck. Until recently, it has been said with a mixture of pride and envy. "That's ...

I decided a few months ago to start reading a scripture every night with my son. We also memorize one scripture every month as part of our daily devotionals. This month was from the Doctrine and Covenants "Behold, mine house is a house of order, saith the Lord God and not a house of confusion." (I chose it as part of my New Year's resolution to get organized.) Connor has a hard time saying the word confusion and says "fusion". After we talked about what it meant, he started sa...

Since I have such an adorable daughter, I decided that I would learn to make her cute dresses. I have to admit, sewing is much more motivating when there is a girl to wear the finished product. i never felt like making anything fo my son.... Anyway, I am very proud of how well all of it turned out. There is a petticoat, dress, pinafore and bloomers.... Even though I knew that it would be too big, I couldn't resist trying it on her.... And...how do you like her pigtails? i think th...

I have a friend in Iraq....for the second time. He doesn't have a signifigant other or much family support, so I try to send letters and care packages....but if anyone else would like to write to him, I know he would appreciate it. He is a flight medic and so he is in danger a great deal of the time. He only sees the worst of the worst. He's had several guys die on him last time. This is a guy who could really use some support from people back home. He was a great support to me when I...

BlueDev wrote an article here and it started me thinking about something in my own life. It's been percolating in the back of my head for a while, so HW don't jump to any conclusions...nothing happened. To sum it up for those too lazy to go read his stuff, he is announcing the return of his brother from the mission field. Latter day Saints, or Mormons as we are commonly called, ask that every member serve. Those who meet the criteria and feel the desire can serve full time for 2 years...

To preface this article, I know that the majority of you could care less about what my son is currently doing or saying, but I like to write about this stuff because...well, HW gets to read it and it gives me something to say. After 2 hours at the park, I convinced my son to come home with my by promising a bubble bath. "If we hurry and run to the car, when we get home, you get to have... a bubble bath." (said with lots of forced enthusiasm...) "A bubble baf...? A BUBBLE BAF?!?!...

A Michigan Company, Weyco INC. has instituted a NO SMOKING rule. So what's the big deal? They insist that their employees are 100% no smoking, even at home or when off work. 4 employees were fired after refusing a test that would detect whether they had been smoking. see link here. Link Wow. As I am a non-smoker, I have no problems with this rule personally, but I can see a BIG lawsuit in the future. People claiming that they have the RIGHT to participate in a legal activity and t...
