I'm sick as a dog today. My head is pounding and my sinuses feel like they are going to explode. My stomach hurts and I would like to just crawl back in bed for a nice long nap. But i can't, so I got up, called in sick to work, fed my kids, packed a lunch for my son and sent him off to school. (at least I had someone who could give him a ride so I could stay home) I put on my fuzzy slippers from Peru and an old high school sweatshirt. Then I looked in the mirror and realized my shirt ...

Today at breakfast, my son looks up from his oatmeal and says, "Mommy, I'm a dolphin." He then goes back to his oatmeal, leaving me a little surprised. I've never heard him pretend to be a fish or dolphin before. Although, to be perfectly honest, I often find myself mildly amused and surprised at what he tells me. He often tells me strange things at breakfast; I think he is trying to explain his dreams. He looks up again. "I splash." Slight pause and then, to clarify (as though I m...

So my SO, Hyperboeran Wanderer wrote a really wonderful article as a birthday present to me. One of the things I love is to hear him tell me stories about our life. Mostly because I have sucha bad memory but also because I like how everything is so much more vivid when told in his words. We have a lot of really great memories together, but there is one that I have to write. It's about the day I fell in love with him. Segue****He told a story about how I happen to have left hook from C...

My 6 week old little girl has enough hair for me to put bows in it! She reminds me of a tweedlebug with her hair this way....or maybe a bit like Cindy Loo Who! She just got her ears pierced! Check out the cute earrings! Thanks to my sister in law, Tammy for encouraging me to use something cool for her first pair! Tammy did the piercing at A-Z Masters in Colorado Springs...so if you are ever in the market for a tattoo or piercing and you are in the Springs....check them out! ...

I wrote an article about how every single light on my Christmas tree died one day..... Link Well, now I really feel like an idiot. I bought 10 strands of lights at Target at the after Christmas sale. Then today, when I started to take my tree down, I decided to check and see if any of the strands were still good. (I had checked several stands while the lights were on the tree with no success, but it was hard to get to all of them.) much to my chagrin, most of the lights DO work. I sh...

My son has recently started saying, " I CAN'T want to!" when he is faced with the unpleasantries of life, such as naptime or eating green vegetables. I love that. "I CAN'T want to." Not, I DON'T want to, but I CAN'T. I know how he feels. "Oh, you want me to stop playing and having fun so I can take a nap? So sorry, mom. I would really, truely like to help you out here but I just can't." I think that is a phrase I should start using...." Oh you want me to pay that bill? So sorry, I...

I mentioned "EverJoe" in my previous article and said to look for the article in which I first mentioned it. Apparently, I never wrote that article, but I thought I did. In the moment of quiet before all hell breaks loose again, I am announcing my return to EverJoe. (If you don't get it, you can read past articles till you find the one where I explain...or you can just move on) I spent 3 weeks with my in-laws because they wanted to see there granddaughter and because I had nothing worth keeping me here in Texas. It was a wonderful holiday. For the first time in my life, I truely felt like I was on a vacation. I didn't spend money or time doing crazy th...

An old DLI hobby was to learn to say something in every language. "Who's your daddy?" "I love you." English...Merry Christmas! Chinese...聖誕快樂。 Dutch...Vrolijke Kerstmis. French...Joyeux Noël. German....Frohe Weihnachten. Greek...Καλά Χρ...

Farewell for the holidays! Adiós. Au revoir. Auf Wiedersehen. Arrivederci. Auspe Spumante. さようなら. 안녕. goodbye. I am off to visit the technological wasteland of *shock* *horror* NO INTERNET ACCESS FOR THREE WEEKS!!! I may die. That or overcome my Joe addiction. This blog will be fast because I *should* be getting ready to leave in 45 min, but instead of getting my kids up or making breakfast or even cleaning, I once again am scroun...

Okay, for everyone who has been waiting to find out what is up with Lady.....Thank you to all those who supported my desision to find her a new home. Thank you to those who offered to either dog sit or adopt her. Thank you LW! I know your heart was in the right place. Thank you to those who wanted to help get Lady to LW's place. HOWEVER....I know that financially I can't afford to ship her to anyone's place....and no offense, someone who would have her in a yard. I know you have do...

I have been avoiding this issue for a while now. i didn't want to blog about it because i knew that my husband would read my blog and I didn't want to make this any harder on either of us than it already was. I asked him if I could get rid of our dog. He doesn't want to have me do that. He loves Lady. (I do too.) But for various reasons, I have finally come to the point where I cannot deal with this dog anymore. yet, I know he loves the dog and this is hard for him to deal with and then I ...

This was going to be a blog about traditions in general and how as you get married, some are discarded, some are changed and some are preserved. However after writing I realized that my favorite tradition is the one that most people find strange. First a typical "American Traditional Christmas" : Kids wake parents up at crack of dawn. Kids are tired because they didn't get much sleep so they can be a trife cranky. Parents having spent the previous night puting together a bike and sendi...

I love a tree with tons of white lights on it....I have perfected the ability of cramming as many lights as possible on my tree without actually setting it on fire. This year, I managed to get 15 strands (of 150 lights each) on our 6 1/2 foot tree. That's because one strand shorted it out after I got it on....but I digress. (Besides, you can't tell that a strand is out because there are sooo many lights) Well, this morning as I plugged in my lights every single one died. Every single ...
