a place to put random discourses on life
I'm still in shock...

For those who may have read my last blog...you may think that my child is some sort of heathen monster....or a typical two year old. I suppose it depends on whether you have kids of your own. But just as he surprises me with his obstinance and trouble-making abilities....he also surprises me with the opposite.

I had to drag him with me to my ob apt today....and he was an angel. He flirted with the nurses and played happily and quietly for the entire wait (which being DACH-is usually pretty long). That's not really what made my jaw drop though, because he is a good child for the most part and does well in public settings.

Tonight he wanted to play in the bathtub for most of the evening. I didn't realize how long he had been playing till I looked up and realized it was bedtime...He had been in the bubblebath for almost 1 1/2 hours! I dried him off and tried to get him to eat something (i hadn't fed him dinner because he was in the tub...) He dawdles and only takes a few bites.....so being the smart mom I am, I decide to use reverse psycology on him...I threaten him with bed.....and he yells, "Yeah! BED!" Jumps down from the table and makes it into his bed before I can move. I am floored. That wasn't the original intention, but I'm happy with the results. He is asleep in bed with no effort from me at all.

I wonder what was going through his mind....after all, how many 2 1/2 year olds do YOU know who are happy to go to bed?

Hehehe, the thing I love about kids is they will NEVER stop amazing you.

And I've read most of your blogs, and I don't think your kid's a heathen or anywhere close, I just always figured you use JU as a place to rant when you need it, because every kid is going to drive their parents insane some days!

I'd only read one of your articles before this one. I've now gone through and read every single one. You are amazing! I also have a little toddling boy, he'll be two in less than a month and you give me some idea what to look forward to. Tonight, he climbing into a bath with his daddy and then standing there in the water started to pee. I'd never seen a grown man leap up that fast! Needless to say, the bath turned into a shower. (Not like THAT you pervs out there *sigh*)

What a great story. It always makes me laugh when they surprise you so. But they do it every day. Our littlest will be 2 in December, and she makes me pull my hair out and laugh my butt off in equal measures every day.

Oh Xtine, That cracks me up....I can just imagine MY husband dealing with that! hhhhhaaaahahahahahahhaha

Aren't kids great? I'm just wondering what it will be like with TWO kids....will I laugh twice as hard or will the antics of one cancel out the other ones' behavior? Who knows, but I'm sure it will be fun!
