a place to put random discourses on life
Jumping, Whales and complete sentences
Published on July 21, 2004 By lifehappens In Life Journals
So, today Bubbleboy surprized me again. Amazing how easy that can happen. He looks over my shoulder and points out the "whale" on the cover. normally, this would be a very random, boring comment. If anyone else pointed out my book had a whale on it, I'd roll my eyes and ignore them. But coming from a 2 year old who leads a very sheltered life.....I just have to wonder... Where the hell did he learn that? I never told him. He doens't watch a lot of tv. so where did this come from? Then he proceeds to explain in a mix of babble and pidgin English that whales are fish. I can see him making that connection, he's a bright kid, but still. I wonder where he learns so much.

After his lecture on sea mammals, he decides to go out and torment the dog. (I'll get to that in a minute) When he finally gets his shoes on (wrong feet) he looks at me and says, clear as a bell, "Please open the door." There you have it. his first complete sentence, including an article. Wow. Apparently I took to long processing his request because a few moments later, he repeated his request with a sigh that a teenager would have been proud of...."MOM, PLEASE open the DOOR!"

So he is outside runnign around, when I hear a THUMP. He is jumping OVER the dog. Actually, to be more specific, he is jumping and falling on the dog. Boy, I'm glad she loves him and doesn't bite. i would have after the 3rd time.
