a place to put random discourses on life

So I am in charge of a money making scheme...ahem...fundraiser...for the unit. We will use the money for Christmas care packages, welcome home baskets for the single soldiers, and the welcome home banners, party etc.

So here is my delemia. I don't want to pull out my tree yet. (even though HW thinks I do) So I can't just take a patriotic Christmas picture and i had to digitally make something. What do you think? Too simple? Too fake? Help me out here please! I am not a pro at this and I want them to look good but we don't have much time. We still have to order them and still have time to sell them.

After many many failed attempts, I gave up on the concept of making this look 3-D so if any of you extra smart, super cool computer brainiacs want to clue me in or help out.......

It looks alright to me...but maybe some kind of background flourish?  I'm really bad at art related things...that's why I stick to poetry.

The only comment that I had for an improvement is that you seemed to want to make it one of those reflective balls you see on a tree, but the flag pattern is flat. However, you seem to know that already (re: your first comment), and I'm not sure how to morph it without a proper photoshoppish program to do so (and don't think I could do it even with the proper program)...

So, the best I can do is say, "Good luck." What you do have there is nice looking, though.

Ideally, you'd want something that actually renders 3d models. There's one available for free (Bryce 5.5 from Downloads.com - you can get the registration key from Corel). The learning curve for it can be a little steep (3d Modeling in general can do that).

The 3d renderer could take the flag and wrap it around a sphere to give you the look you're going for.

Having said all that, I think the design that you've got looks very nice.

I ditto the design, great looking and not too overly anything! I also agree that if you wanted to make the ball reflective or the flag colors sparkle would be great but even if you don't, it looks really outstanding!
