Hot mom and her minivan

but how hot can I be when my ride is tricked out with 2 carseats in back?

Actually this joe was just to 1)fulfill HW's request for something new...and 2) to announce that I am back in trapeze!!! Woo Hoo!

I have to take it easy...I have school and work and work and the other work and being a mom to worry about and the incredible $$$$ that it would cost, but I can treat myself once a month. But since I snagged a nifty gig today and made a cool $100...I'm headed down this weekend! Woo Hoo!

I REALLY want to get my layout down so I can start throwing doubles.....

Yay for trapeze.  You deserve to have some fun.

My friend and I used to cruise (to Walmart or somewhere equally mommy and exicting) in my minivan and I always told her mom's in minivans are hot.  I'd try to convince her to roll down the window and talk to the guys next to us.  She would just turn red and smile at me like I'm stupid which I am but I think it's fun.  Unfortunately I crashed the mean green minivan a couple of years ago and there are times I miss it.  Mainly the room but que sera sera.

Very.

Really very.

That's all I have to say about it.

The truth is, you're hot in SPITE of the minivan. But minivans are hot anyway. They're like luxury yachts on wheels. And yours even moreso.

The real question is, how hot could you be WITHOUT two carseats? I don't think the answer is any hotter than you are now.

To put it algebraically, so that I don't get in trouble:

LHH + 2C >= LHH

I'll just go with SanChonino's assessment...

"Really very"

There's a minivan in the picture?

I checked out your Flikr posts and I have always thought you had great composition but that just confirmed it.

I have to ask... I am ok behind the lens and sometimes I get the amazing shot by accident and on rare occasions I get them by design. Most of the time I have to get 100 shots to get a few good ones. Is this talent or did you learn? I want to get better without becoming a professional. I have three little subjects that always ham it up for the camera and I don't want to have to hold them hostage to get the shot I am looking for.

I have a few suggestions on the photo:

1) Your selective color layer is a bit too strong on your eyes.  The results would be better if you desaturate slightly.
2) The image is srtonger if you crop off the top 1/4 of the photo
3) Your skin tone got a bit muddy.  Is the photo a bit over exposed?  Did you try adjusting the contrast before desaturating?
4) An almost desaturated sepia tone along with your eye color might have more striking results.

hmmm...maybe I will mess with your photo a bit and show you what I was thinking....

Spoken like a true photo-geek!

But it is a good picture.  Where's the mini-van?

yes. I love my van.

um...that sounds about right at first. After a while (a long while) you start getting more "good" shots with more practice. Try looking at photos that you like. Figure out what you like about them and then compare your shots...see what you should change to get the "look" you want.

As for holding kids hostage....I suggest 1-patience 2- have everything but the kid ready beforehand 3- (most important) accept the fact your kids personality will show through...they will not look like the kid on the magazine cover unless you bribe them, they have a natural desire to pose or you are lucky. Kids wiggle. If you want a staged shot with a forced smile...go to Walmart. If you want personality, then keep practicing, but don't loose sight of your kids.

First off....thanks for all the suggestions. I might make excuses why I did things a certain way, but that doesn't make me any less appreciative of advice.
I was doing this for an assignment "cutout" a bw photo with one section colored in. When I first viewed it on the web, it didn't seem very noticable so I "popped" the color so it would fit the assignment more noticably. But since you are 2nd person to tell me...I guess I kicked it too bright.
I think I will crop it, now that you mention it. I didn't even bother doing that.
I intentionally overexposed this photo because my face was flushed from just teaching yoga and I was lazy. Overexposing is a quick fix and can be considered "artsy". And as for #4...I had to stick with bw but I might try that just to see how it looks.

hmmm...maybe I will mess with your photo a bit and show you what I was thinking....
mmmmm...happy thoughts. please feel free.
