a place to put random discourses on life
I confess....Nike wrote this.

“A woman is often measured by the things she cannot control. She is measured by the way her body curves or does not curve, by where she is flat or straight or round. She is measured by 36-24-36 and inches and ages and numbers. By all the outside things that don’t ever add up to who she is on the inside.

And so if a woman is to be measured, let her be measured by the things she can control. By who she is and who she is trying to become. Because as every woman knows, measurements are only statistics, and statistics lie.”

I tore this out of a magazine when I was in high school and ran across it again recently.....more women need to hear this.

That is a good quote.

Then my cynical side tells me that it's just a clever way for Nike to attract imperfect women (i.e. all women) to buy their products, heh. Much like Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty and also their one about old women being beautiful...sounds like they're trying to appeal to the majority of people to earn their product loyalty. Very clever. But very sincere too.

That doesn't change the fact that it's a good Nike quote. And Dove speaks the truth too. I have two bottles of Dove shampoo in my shower right now, and I'm sure that the ad spoke to my mind when I saw the product at the store.
