a place to put random discourses on life
it's completely wasted

Have you ever completed an amazingly hard physical challenge and had the scars to show at the end? Even though your feet are blistered from running a marathon or your body just aches, it's okay...the pain is a badge of pride and just shows how hard you worked....

Today wasn't one of those days.

After a little more than a week off, I had the chance to jump back in and fly some more.

Everything was off....my takeoff was lousy: I kept jumping out instead of up, my sweepback was short instead of long so I didn't have the power or height when it came time to pull a trick.

I crashed and burned on my layouts and on a backend birdsnest (a backbend on the bar) I kept freezing on the birdie and not making it into the trick at all.....5 times!!!! My layouts were worse. I dont' know what was wrong, my takeoff sucked, my power just wasn't there, I was uncoordinated and by the end of the first class, I was just frustrated.

The second class (yeah, since it's a 2 hour drive I figured I would do 2 classes back to back) was horrible too. I felt myself miss the timing of the layouts and chose to back out of a few tricks. So the ONLY good thing was that I earned a little respect for flying semi-responsibly. I did know when I was going to kick my catcher or otherwise screwup, I'd stop my momentum and drop....and they were grateful to have me put the brakes on....in air collisions HURT.

And on top of it all off? The last few weeks, I've had a couple blisters, but today I kept tearing my hands. the pictures don't do it justice. I have 3 serious gouges on my right hand, I just taped the skin over till it "set" and hoped that it stays. I also have a few more spots on that hand where a few blisters/calluses are starting to look pretty nasty. The left hand ain't much better...I tore open a big blister and had to keep changing my grips because I was slipping.

By the end of the night, I was so sore, beat-up and tired that I could barely hold a set. My hands were unable to get a good grip. My legs and arms felt like lead after climbing the ladder. I was actually relieved when class was over.

Sigh.. This was not how I wanted it to be! I hope Friday is a little better.....and after today, I think I can't do any worse.

Dear, have you ever considered that the two (trapeze lessons and massage) might present a conflict of interest in regards to your hands?

*fingers in ears* LALALALALALALAAAAAAAA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!!!!!!

Actually, this is the first time my hands have been this bad. Most of the time, with a little moisturizer and a nice scrub, my hands can go back to normal.
