Viva Les Arts Community Theatre has a fantastic children's theater. A friend of mine directed Peter Pan and they held a free performance for children of deployed soldiers tonight. That's us,btw . They made a big deal about making it a special event, so we dressed up and off we went for a night at the theater. Maddy looked a little zoned becuase it was after her bedtime, but she was so cute anyway! Notice the cookies on her chin?
The kids loved it. Maddy had to point out Nana (the dog) and Connor was thrilled to see Peter Pan "really fly". Although he did point out that Peter didn't fly as good as the one on the movie. But he was pretty amazed when the kids started flying around the stage. They clapped to bring "Jingerbell" (AKA Tinkerbell) back to life and cheered to see Captian Hook try to fight Peter Pan. The enourmous crocodile was a big hit too. To top off the joy, they served punch and cookies pre-show and durring the intermission.
I have to say that from an adult point of view, it was still a fun performance. There was a lot more wire work than I expected and Peter was absolutely fantastic. This kid really stole the show, hamming it up just enough to get the kids to laugh, striking classic poses and delivering his lines clear and audible. He was better than the adults. Absoulutely fantastic.
I knew the director's daughter was in the extra cast of girls (mermaids, fairies, indians etc) but I also saw several other kids that I knew. Bit parts, but still I was proud of them. One was a pirate and loaned Connor his sword for an impromptu battle after the show....see pictures below....

I'm so glad you were able to go. I heard about the performance through a friend yesterday and thought of you. And the kids have gotten so big!
