a place to put random discourses on life
a plea for help
Published on March 17, 2007 By lifehappens In Writing
I am diving into the hitherto unknown world of higher education. Algebra isn't something that you can get reassurance for. Either you understand....or you don't. Writing is another situation altogether. I confess that I am nervous about taking English Comp. It's not that I don't know how to write a sentence....I just don't feel confident in my ability to write well.

So that is where my plea comes in. I am going to post my homework assignments here. Hopefully, some kind hearted individual or two will give me some feedback. That may be a way to avert the impending disaster that my subconscious mind keeps screaming about.

i know you are out there. Will my writing be enough to draw your interest or will you drift off into the cyberspace and forget me?

I'm more than happy to provide my services regarding your English Comp.

As far as Algebra goes, let me just say there is a reason that early civilizations believed math to be the devil's work...I took my last math course about 3 years ago, and am ecstatic that I never have to breach that subject again.

Algebra isn't so hard. You simply have to remember that both sides of an equation must balance.

English Comp and Creative Writing were among my favorite courses in college. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who will be more than happy to help critique your writing.

I'm sure you'll do quite well. Have a little faith in yourself.

I will defer to my learned collegue on English, and gladly play devils advocate on the math.  Math is the one science that utlimately everyone can understand.  Why?  It is absolute.  And unchanging.  Given my life growing up, that is the reason I took to math so readily.  It never changed.  2+2 was always 4.

I was fine with math up until that point. Then they hit me with the algebra and the trig and the calc and the stats and I'm gonna need to have a drink now.

I don't have a good enough handle on writing to critique you, but I'm definitely a supporter and well-wisher.  I'm sure you'll do great.

You'll do great. What are you working towards? A degree? I wish I could go back to school.

It looks like you'll do just fine. I'd love to review your work if you want. Just let me know. I'm working on a second Bachelors in English so I can teach at the college level. So it'd be right up my alley. fire away. Let me know if you want my e-mail address.

I don't think I am an expert in English Composition (although English was my favorite subject in both High School and College), but I wouldn't mind leaving comments.

They may not be the most constructive or analytical...but I'd like to comment on what I read nevertheless.

Best of luck on your course!
