Or God and Cereal according to a 4 year old.
Yes, it is time for another edition of Four Year old Philosophy....Today we will be discussing God and cereal and the meaning of life.
Scene, in a car driving home from church.
Boy: Hey mom! I have faith!
Mom: Really? Do you know what faith is?
Boy: Ummmm. I forget.
Mom: Faith is believing something is true even if you can't see it.
*thinking she needs to explain more.....* "Can you see God?"
"No."
"Can you call him on the phone?"
"Well.....I don't know his phone number?"
*Stifles laughter* "But even if you can't see him or call him on the phone, you know he is real, right?"
"Yup."
"That's faith."
*Thoughtful pause* "Hey mom! Did you know God believes in himself?"
As I try to keep a straight face, he continues.... "That's because he is cool. He knows how to walk on water!"
That's enough religion for one day.

This morning he is eating Rice Crispies (left over from yummy RCtreats.....mmmm, but back to the story) He looked at me and said, "Hey mom! (everything starts with that BTW) "My cereal is talking to me!"
"Really? What's it saying?"
"Mo-o-o-m! It' can't say any words! It's doesn't have a mouth!"

And as a bonus, you get to hear about a 2 year old's thought's on God. My daughter is learning to pray. When her brother or anyone else prays, she tries to pray too. Usually she just bables and lists all the people she wants to ask God to protect....."mumble mumble Daddy.....mumble mumble Mommy Daddy, "Caga", "Mammy"....etc etc.
As a bit o'background, I have taught my children that they are Children of God, so when they address him in a prayer, they say "Our Father in Heaven" or "Dear Heavenly Father", not just "Dear God". This way they will be reminded of the fact they are his children and loved....
So I realized this morning, that my daughter isn't praying for her daddy twice every time she prays. She is saying "Dear Heaven Daddy"
I know some of you won't get it, but I think it's sweet.

And here comes the big shocker.....
My 4 year old got his first love note from a girl! He had it folded up in his pocket and showed it to me yesterday. It is coverd with hearts and says "I love you! (heart) Lettakaye" I am going to sneak it out of his pocket after school and save it for later. Of course it's an older girl with a crush on him! She is 5.
