a place to put random discourses on life

I saw this commercial and it brought back memories of pre-9/11 training in the Army. I was a medic and when they ran low on dummy rounds, they just told us to "pretend". So we spent 30 in the desert yelling, "bang bang" and "Hey! I Hit you!" at each other. Of course, opfor didn't have a supply issue....and we usually lost."
I don't know if training has improved, but out of the two years of training before deploying to Bosnia (where they did shoot at us) I never once had actual (blanks) rounds in training.
