Or how Hyperborean Wanderer got my pipes fixed for free
So back at the begining of this project, I decided that since the wall was down, I might as well raise the showerhead 5 or 6 inches.
See, the issue is, my DH, HW is 6'3''. I'm 5'6''. The shower was short even for me. So I figured that this could be a good Father's Day present, even though he wouldn't be home to see it.
I do NOT want to burn the house down, so welding indoors is out of the question. So I'm off to call a plumber.
He seemed really nice. He was polite and up front about the fact that the minimum charge was $88....but it would only take 10 minutes of work. Ohhh, ouch. But this is for my husband, whom I adore and want to do something nice for. (and no, new headers for the goat are out of the question)
So as he is getting his parts out of the truck, I opened the garage.
He stopped.
He stared.
He practically drooled.
Not at me. Oh no.
At my DH's 1969 GTO.
Kenneth then spent 20 min talking about how cool my husband's car was, his car, what improvements he wants to make to his car, the car he really wants to get etc etc etc
He spent 8 min cutting the pipe and soddering the extension on.
He then spent 10 more min rehashing how cool GTOs are.
I just nodded and smiled and threw out a few car comments. (I'm no mechanic but I can fake my way through a car conversation....after all I am married to HW)
When I went to pay, he just smiled and said that it wasn't enough work to charge for and to have a nice day.
I suspect that if I had not opened the garage...I would have paid full price.
Thanks HW!
