How many times do you have to say it before it sounds normal?
"Having children has become a fad, and as will any fad emanating from Hollywood, self-augmentation, adornment and going to the extreme are going to be present," he said.
Pam Satran, co-author of the bestselling baby naming book "Beyond Jason & Jennifer," says that for years bland names were the order of the day, but not any more.
"Twenty years ago celebrity baby names were pretty simple. It was Kate, Kate, Max, Max. Now celebrities are trying to outdo celebrities," she said.
Here are some example of what celebrities have recently called their children: Julia Roberts, Hazel and Phinneaus; Gwyneth Paltrow, Moses and Apple; Jason Lee, Pilot Inspektor; Joely Fisher, True Harlow; and Nicolas Cage: Kal-el.
Ka-el?!?!?! What was Nick thinking?!?! Did he just watch a little too much Superman? Was it a joke? Does he even think about that happens if he is yelling at his kid in 12 years? Of course, they don't have to worry about calling the kids to come in for dinner...the maid will handle that.
Anyway, after the shock of hearing all the attrocious names being branded on the children of Hollywood, you have to wonder. How long will the baby trend last? For years, women put off having a baby and then quietly left the limelight for a while, returning only when the battery of nannys, cooks and maids had the baby well taken care of. Now totting around a mini-me is a good way to get your name in the paper again.
It's not like a puppy that you discard when you get bored with it.....this is a long commitment. I wonder if the attention span will last that long. Will the attentiveness towards the children fade as soon as the media frenzy dies down?
