Discourses of a 4 year old....in Spanish.
My son doesn't qualify to attend preschool next year. I have nowhere near the money it would cost to put him in a private program, so I'm continuing to casually teach him stuff at home. (I say casually because I am not deluded enough to think I am the type of person who can successfully home-school. I know my limitations)
Seseme Street is my "backup/reinforcement" plan. We cover stuff and then when he vegges out in front of the tv, I can console myself by saying "it's educational". (Not really, but we won't go there)
The fun part of this is how I remember stuff from when I was a kid. As a kindergartener, I remember that when SS was over, it was time to leave for school. My husband remembers it too....and he can sing almost all the songs! He knows the Counting songs and the Conjuntion Junction songs etc etc. Amazing that he remembers them still.
Anyway, my son has started walking around the house telling me the spanish word for everything. Apparently Porridge is the spanish word for oatmeal. And if he doesn't know the word....he makes one up.
I may have to let him watch Spanish tv for a while.....after all, that's educational, right?
