a place to put random discourses on life
Healthy Food

So my son has very definitive ideas about how things should be. And when he gets and idea in his head, it is very difficult to change his mind.

Today he told me that he wanted a vegetable. When asked what vegetable he wanted, he told me that he "needed" an apple. I tried to explain that apples are a fruit. He insisted that he was right and finally proved his point by singing the "Lazytown Apple Song" It goes something like this.

"Apples are healthy.
Apples are good to eat.
Apples are VEGETABLES!!!!!
Apples are healthy for meEEEEEEEE"

I guess I can't argue with that now can I?

So then I called my sister and had him ask her. (Forgetting that she is a punk)

She told him that Apples are a Vegetable.

Thanks Jules.

Aww, good luck with explaining it to him now. Maybe you could try saying that whats sweet is fruit and what is savoury (cooked or in salad) is vegetable?

Sweet is candy. I've tried that method. He is REALLY good at arguing

We spend the first few years teaching them to walk and talk....and then next 18 trying to get them to sit down and shut up
