a place to put random discourses on life

My husband loves my long red hair, but I've been hinting for a month now that it is time for it to go. I set a date and I've reminded him frequently that my hair is going to be SHORT.

I'm tired of having my hair stay damp for days unless I blow dry it. I hate that it takes forever to dry, straighten and/or style my hair in anything other than a ponytail. It's hot and heavy and on top of that, damaged. All the color changes, curling, straightening, blowdrying, elastic bands etc. are causing it to get split ends, split middles and so on.

I've had long hair for most of my life. As a little girl my mom would chop it so short that I looked like a boy. I was teased and picked on until I was in foster care. There, I was encouraged to choose for myself...I chose long. It took a few years, but since then I have only cut it short once and that was not as short as this will be. I told my friend that chin length or shorter is the goal.

So we will see.

Goodbye this......

and watch for updates with photos of the new me!

I have had super long red hair for a really long time, and i want to cut it shorter and dye it blond-ish, but all of my friends tell me not to, so I haven't. Part of me is afraid of the change

Hey, just remind yourself that 1-it will grow back and 2-experimenting with new hairstyles is easier when you are young. Ever seen an 86 year old with short, red spiky hair?

P.S. I like your title. I definitely didn't think about hair when i first read it. It reminded me of something a bit dirtier... A good laugh.

Well, I thought about using "Bobbit" in the title but then I thought better of it! I figured I'd scare off the guys.

I was skeptical, and wondered if HW was okay with your decision... but you look great after, and I'm certain he has no complaints.

HW was actually very supportive. He wanted me to go even shorter, dye it jet black and be "goth girl" for a while. But he said this is fun too.

You look so different, looks like you're a your sister or something lol!

I still don't recognize myself in the mirror. I think I look younger, less sexy, more cute. Maybe like my little sister would look if she looked completely different!

Lifehappens, you will ALWAYS be beautiful, but you just killed me here!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Sorry bout that. I'll grow it out again.

Maybe we can start a cult that will idolize her old hair?

Maybe you ought to put your 12-inch ponytail on ebay. It looks like a couple of weirdos here might be willing to give anything they have for it

Hmmm, now you have me thinking. I wonder how much I could make off of it? Maybe I'll put it up and donate the money to LFL. Would anyone of you crazy guys bid on it?
I represent that statement.,

I expect a large bid from you!

The first shampoo and the drinking fountain are always weird after a drastic change

Oh, yeah! I keep trying to flip it out of the way and there is nothing there.....sigh.

What is it with men and long hair????it symbolizes youth, sexiness, fertility, all that good stuff.

How many sex goddesses do you know with a Sinaed O'Connor do?

that color with the caramel highlighting, must be really popular

I didn't realize it at first, but she did the highlights red underneath, then caramel then fading to blond on top. So cool. I love it!

It's you and even prettier!

Glad you like it. I was afraid that everyone would hate it because it's not as much "fun".

I love women who are strong, intelligent, sensitive, heroic, and who look different than men.

I don't think lifehappens would be mistaken for a man even if she got a CREW CUT.

The new do looks nice, life, but...I'm with para and dr. on this one. It's gotta be an adjustment for you, too, though
