a place to put random discourses on life

For those who don't know, I am a cancan dancer.....We have been debating costumes for Wild West Night and faced with 2 choices.
Option one: Spend $110 (+$74 in extras) on a high quality, figure flattering costume OR
Option two: a cheaper ($80+$49 in extras) costume that is neon pink and less flattering.

Neither option is particuarly easy on the wallet, but we jsut found out that we do not have to pay for them AND we are getting the nice costumes! WooHoo!

I'm excited, so here is a sneak peek of what I will be wearing on March 3rd (all ya'll in Fort Hood area should come watch!)

I always used to wonder why everyone claps and cheers when a dance line does the classic "Can Can Kick". I asked a lot of people why people cheer, the standard answer was, "because it's a hard thing to get right". I didn't really accept that answer, because well, I rarely saw any dancers mess it up.

In high school drama (yeah, I was a drama dork), we studied choreography. My drama teacher was a professional choreographer, so I asked her about it. I also included the standard answer I'd gotten from everyone else.

She started laughing and said that's what she always heard too. She went on to add... everyone cheers now more out of tradition than anything else, but originally the men cheered because the dancers were showing their legs, underwear, and in the dance halls of the old west... a lot more than that! ;~D

Glad you get to wear the dresses you like better! Hope you get the pic and link fixed!

That's fantastic! Glad to see others enjoy dancing too! I have to admit it's a rush performing.
