a place to put random discourses on life
It was an urge....

Hyperborean Wanderer wasn't impressed but I've wanted to try to do this shot for a long time and I finally got my shot on Sat.  I've been begging all the pregnant chicks in Texas to let me try it and my friend Leila's boy was the first to arrive!  (3 weeks early too!) Woo Hoo!

I love how it turned out but I can already see where I can improve it....so someone else needs to have a baby!

Well that's interesting and pretty damn cool.

What's the story behind wanting this shot?

You should photo manip a bow at the top.  That would look cool.

Nice shot!  Looks like cheesecloth?  A netting might give you better results as the fibers are more translucent and more predictable.

I just thought it was cool and I wanted to try it!

So one day you say, "I'd like to put a baby in a mesh bag, hang it up, and take a picture."

Hmm...alright then.

Oh, and here's another hanging baby.

Cool image, Life!

It would be great to get a pic of a stork and hang the netting from the stork's beak. :~D

I thought about that but I couldn't find netting that seemed to have holes as large as cheesecloth.  I wasn't sure it the smaller holes would make it more obscure.  I'll try it with the next kid (due soon!)

I may try the bow idea....digital alterations take too long though.  I'll just make a bow and tack it on before shooting.....

Same thing with the stork....I dont' charge much so I don't know if I would want to mess with it long enough to let my obsessive compulsive self be happy enough with it to sell.

Shocking title...

Great idea! I love the Anne Geddes-type of photos. Have you seen the book of hers with a bunch of different poses involving newborns, mesh/cheesecloth(?), and mommies? Though I doubt the mommies are really mommies of those newborns. Their bodies are too perfect. But all the photos are so original and captivating. Like yours!

Here, I pulled up the cover pic of the book I was thinking of:
